Holidays on the Avenue
Initiated in 1995, Holidays on the Avenue was created to
bring added festive excitement and cultural activities to Jamaica Center during the
holiday shopping season. It enabled
the members of CCJ to present a series of diverse holiday programs during the
afternoon and evening hours in downtown Jamaica. Having grown
over the years, Holidays on the Avenue, this year,
HOTA was presented in a different formats with many venues, via a festive and
extended calendar.
Partnerships
The Holidays on the Avenue Calendar
denotes the celebration of Holiday programs and activities
presented by CCJ members from November through January in Jamaica Center and Southeast
Queens. Many of the
performances début or announced the First
Community Kick-off Celebration for the Holidays, such as Ramadan, Hanukkah,
Christmas, Kwanza and the Celebration of the 3Kings Festival to name a few. This Holiday event is
designed to spur participation by the community and other agencies in
Cultural programming of the arts.
